Well, well, well. The Violence Against Women Act passed recently (finally) and lo and behold, protection for LGBTs (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders) was included. I'm hearing stories that domestic violence organizations are back to the drawing board to adjust their services to provide for what might be politely termed 'newcomers'.
HIdden within this new protection by the DV industry is their awareness that some of these 'newcomers' just might be males!! Male victims of domestic violence. What a concept.
It's sad, to note that the powers that be didn't change VAWA to protect men until the gay movement was recognized -- even though the Centers for Disease Control reported several years ago that 30 percent of domestic violence incidents are now female tio male.
But let's not look a gift horse in the mouth. What do you think?
